Civilian Conservation Corp
Civilian Conservation Corp collection is located in GallerybA/ The Big Room on the 1st floor.
There was a Civilian Conservation Corp(CCC) Camp located in Bethel from 1933 to 1942.
A New Deal program, the CCC was a public work relief program (1933–1942) established by Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide employment for millions of young men (ages 17 to 28), who were unmarried and uemployed in an effort to help revitalize our country's resources during the Great Depression.
Called "Roosevelt's Tree Army" because they focused on environmental conservation, planting over two billion trees, fighting fires, and building infrastructure in national/state parks. Enrollees earned $30 each month with $25 of it sent home to support their families.
