On Saturday, Sept. 19th from 10am - 4pm, the Bethel Historical Society will feature a special presentation of a local Civil War soldier James McMurchy, from Bethel, Ohio. James was a POW and survivor of Andersonville Prison Camp in southwest Georgia where tens of thousands of Union soldiers were confined (1864-1865). James kept a secret diary which will be on display on Ohio's Open Doors Day at the Bethel Historical Museum, 235 W. Plane Street, Bethel, Ohio 45106 in Clermont

This Saturday, May 16, is the 5th in a series of free history learning opportunities for children. No need to register and there is no definite time to arrive! The children are welcome anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 and so it’s a great time for you to bring them! All ages! The Bethel Historical Society featured a train display in Batavia Administration Building that just went up this week. Set up by Terry Holland and Tim Smith, assisted by Denise Strimple. The train display will be up for the entire month of March. Please stop by to see it!

We had a great Down Home Christmas Day at the museum Saturday. THANK YOU to all the volunteers that came to help. Special thanks to the 3 National Honor Society students (from Bethel-Tate High School), Luke, AJ, and Lauren, who showed up and helped all day, taking shifts. They all said that they liked reading and hearing about things they never knew about that were in Bethel. They also carried tables up from the basement to the second floor to get ready for our dinner Wednes
